TWO FIFTY
When in the course of human events
By the time you read this, the NFL playoffs will have begun.
Among the sights and sounds you will see and hear, is the following phrase:
America 250
We are less than six months away from July 4th, when the United States will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
Our government seems to be already celebrating our independence in its own way, by forcefully removing leaders from sovereign nations, for no reason other than to seize its economic assets for our own
Our government seems to be already celebrating our independence in its own way, by have ICE agents not only murder people they believe to be here illegally, but American citizens. White American citizens.
Our government seems to be laying out its philosophy moving forward, with lust towards Greenland, Mexico, Venezuela, and a potentially destabilized Iran. Not to make the world a better place, but to be the head of a “five families” of strongmen, including China and Russia, with a stronger comradeship towards Russia because their leadership is white. An understanding with East Asia, who we have always been at war with.
The president of the United States has decided that international law is unimportant. As reported in The New York Times: “Asked in a wide-ranging interview if there were any limits on his global powers, Mr. Trump said: ‘Yeah, there is one thing. My own morality. My own mind. It’s the only thing that can stop me.’”
And in the middle of all this, in the establishment of a doctrine that appears to spit in the face or what our origin story represents, we have America 250. It will be on every football game, professional and college, moving forward. I am certain that there will be some pre-game ceremony at both the CFP National Championship and the Super Bowl mentioning it.
A good number of Americans right now have no idea what they their country will even look like on July 4th, 2026, and may not be in the mood to celebrate once it arrives.
They are counting on us being distracted, and the first distraction starts this weekend, with the NFL. It is highly unlikely that there will be any moments of silence in this weekend’s games for Renee Good, as there were when Charlie Kirk died. (The NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves did hold a moment or silence for her.)
Maybe the death of Renee Good, tragic as it is, could lead to a productive uprising as George Floyd’s once did, as John Brown’s one did, as the murder of Crispus Attucks in 1770 once did. Whether all the noise can drown out a propaganda machine that refuses to deviate from the ruling party and tries to justify murder remains to be seen. That is what needs to be broken if progress is going to be made, as much as any change in government.
In the meanwhile, don’t let the distractions take you too far away.
